The Priests of the Sacred Heart have received a preliminary approval for a proposed 180-unit apartment building that would house active and retired priests as well as members of the public age 55 and older. The complex will include a large Chapel for Mass and religious services along with other programs.
The old convent on the grounds of the original Sacred Heart Monastery is being torn down to make way for a new retirement community.
Located across from Sacred Heart Monastery, Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake will include units for members of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, as well as the general public aged 55 and better. Overlooking Monastery Lake, the 14 acre SHML campus will be well-integrated into the nature conservancy adjacent to it. This retreat like setting of religious shrines and monuments will allow for quiet prayer and meditation.
Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake will have approximately 165 one and two-bedrooms units, sized and priced for a variety of needs and income levels. All sections, including a wing for members of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, will feed into a common "Main Street" which will serve as the heart of the community. A wonderful venue for visiting with other residents, it will include a coffee bar, community room, serving kitchen, exercise facility, media center, bank, beauty shop, library, craft room and guest suite for visiting family or friends.
A chapel -- open to all residents -- will be also available for private prayers as well as weekly services. Residents will have access to heated, underground parking. Elevators will be available throughout the complex.
Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake will grow in several phases. The first wing will house members of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, both retired and those in full-time ministry. The second and third wings will be available to the general public (again, seniors age 55 and better). Most units will have a private balcony or patio. All include fully appointed kitchens, a washer and dryer, ample storage and spacious floor plans. Select units will have elevated ceilings.

September 8, Wednesday Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Loving Father, give Your people help and strength from heaven. The birth of Christ, Mary's Son, was the dawn of our salvation. May our celebration of her birthday bring us closer to lasting peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
